Guilty Pleasures, YUM!

Have you ever been faithfully following your diet plan when out of nowhere the craving for something yummy and decadent hits you like a runaway train? Something smooth and chocolaty and way outside your calorie count for the day?

If you can’t fight the craving monster, whip up a batch of cupcakes using one of the five killer cupcake recipes below then enjoy one glorious little cupcake. (Or maybe two. I won’t tell a soul.) Bring the rest to work and watch them disappear. Trust me, there will be plenty of calories to go around!

Besides, life is short. Eat the cupcake;-)

Chocolate Cupcake Goodness

First up is this amazing super moist chocolate cupcake from Sally’s Baking Addiction. She’ll take you step by step through the process of making this “foundation recipe.” Sally defines a foundation recipe as a solid base recipe that you can use as a starting point for making others.

Lemon Blueberry Cupcake

If chocolate isn’t your thing [gasp!] then perhaps these delectable lemon blueberry cupcakes from Baker by Nature will do the trick. They’re not too sweet, but sweet enough to make you smile and they’re topped with the most divine lemon cream cheese frosting. Start to finish will take you 10 minutes, plus a little baking time.

Cannoli Cupcake

Being the good Italian girl that I am, my all time favorite desert is a cannoli. Crunchy outer shells filled with sweetened ricotta cheese with a bit of crushed pistachio and tiny chocolate chips. To. Die. For. Just like these cannoli cupcakes made with light cinnamon cake and a creamy mascarpone frosting that you just will not be able to resist! A huge thank you to Spoonful of Flavor for this divine recipe.

Key Lime Cupcake

Life Love Liz is the creator of our next killer cupcake recipe, key lime cupcakes. These feature a boxed white cake mix where you replace a portion of the water with lime juice. It’s the decadent frosting that makes this recipe pop! (Shhh, it has butter and powdered sugar, and lime juice) Doesn’t that sound delish? My mouth is seriously watering. Yours?

Oreo Cupcake

Last, but not least on my list of 5 killer cupcake recipes is this Oreo cupcake from the Corner House blog. It starts off as rather like a box mix, but there are some surprise ingredients that really make this recipe unique!
