Fabulous Fall Home Decor Ideas

Ahhhh. It’s finally arrived, the first day of Autumn. The air is crisp in the mornings, and a craving for hot chocolate and peppermint Schnapps is already plaguing me. Hard to believe we are easing into the holiday season with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas just around the corner.

If you haven’t started decorating for the season, today is a perfect day to get started! If you have a few hours this weekend, I have rounded up 7 fabulous Fall DIY home decor craft projects for you to spiff up your nest for Autumn.

If the weather is nice, head outside and collect yourself a handful or ten of beautifully colored fall leaves. A variety of colors from a number of different tree species will work best. No trees? Head to your local craft store and pick some up from the floral department.

Pressed Leaves

After drying out a few leaves between books, you can make a single pressed glass picture by buying two frames, then taking the glass out of one of them and using it for the backing of the first frame. Place your favorite pressed leaf in between the two glass panes. Click here for more details.

Fall Leaf Canvas

2-Leaf Canvas

For this project, you’re going to be better off with a garland of leaves from your local craft store. The real deal is going to be way too delicate for this project. Unless of course, you feel the need to challenge and frustrate yourself. To each their own;-) A few other supplies and you’ll be in business. I think a tryptic of different sized canvases arranged on a single wall would be stunning. Click here for the tutorial.

Watercolor Paper Leaf & Branch Wall Hanging

This project is actually watercolor painting on paper that’s then run through a Big Shot machine with the Tim Holtz Layered Leaf Bigz Die and Embossing Folder to cut out a bunch of leaves.

Now, if you have no idea what that last sentence means, don’t worry. All those leftover leaves from the leaf garland you purchased? Just substitute those for the painted watercolor leaves called for in this project. Easy peasy!

Wine Cork Pumpkins

4-Wine Cork Pumpkins

If you’re short on time, you can always delegate! True Vine Gifts on Etsy makes these divine little Wine Cork Pumpkins. Aren’t they just the bomb? But, if you are anything like me, you might already have thirteen thousand wine corks stashed throughout your house.

Um. . .yeah, “we” meant to use them for projects such as this, but “we” haven’t done so yet. It’s okay. Our secret. Now is the time to dig them out and see what you can do about recreating these little lovelies using the photos as a guide. You have the skills, you have the supplies, you can do this one all on your own;-)
