Woven Danish Heart Tree Ornament or Tag

A Little Hyyge for Your Tree

This adorable crochet Danish heart is a big hit at craft shows near the Christmas holiday! I noticed when I made some with National Football League colors (go Cowboys!) that they were really quite popular. Just sayin’. It seems that anything inspired by the Danes is popular right now. Can you say Hyyge? In case you haven’t heard of this before, Hyyge means a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture). Of course, my definition means steaming cups of hot chocolate, candles, warm blankets, and fuzzy slippers. Now doesn’t that make you kind of wish for a snow day?

I used a few of these to distinguish packages under the tree instead of using tags. Red and white were gifts for hubby, green and red were for Mom, you get the idea. You can use any weight yarn to make these, just match your hook size to the yarn weight and they’ll turn out just fine. That makes them great for using up those scraps of yarn you haven’t been able to toss.
