January Journaling Prompts Printable

Is journaling something you’ve tried, but after a few days, or weeks, or months, yet another specially purchased notebook falls by the wayside? Or worse, the remaining pages are relegated for use as your never-ending “To Do” list? Seriously, I have enough partially used journals to reach the moon and back.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the benefits of journaling, and you know it’s something that you would benefit from if you could just. Stick. With it? Here’s a quick recap to refresh your memory:
  • Journaling can help you deal with stressful, emotional, and traumatic events.
  • It’s a safe, cathartic way to vent without fear of say, getting fired for telling your boss to take their job and shove it. Not that any of us would ever do such a thing.
  • It’s a great way to brainstorm new ideas.
  • A great way to process complex ideas.
  • It improves mental clarity and an ability to see the big picture.

These are just a few examples. There are tons more, along with scientific studies to back ’em up.

This year is going to be different! Seriously.

As the new year approaches, I am vowing yet again to chase the ever elusive journaling habit. But, this time around, I’ve created a series of 31 prompts for the month of January to help myself stay on track. I tossed the list into my favorite graphics-ish program and voila, a January Journal Prompt Printable was born. Now, don’t get too excited, the printable isn’t all that fancy—this is merely a test after all. If I can make it through January, I’ll spiff up a whole new list of prompts for us for the month of February.

The idea behind this printable is that I can list, or doodle, or draw (which I suck at) representative thoughts as they relate to the prompt. This allows me to be as creative as I want to be! I can break out the fancy new Sharpie’s I just bought, or the watercolor paints that Santa brought me this year. Hard to believe I know, but apparently, I made the Nice list. Who knew? Or, I can break out the rainbow of PaperMate Ink Joy gel pens that are to die for, and have at it.

So, while I won’t go as far as to say journaling is an actual New Year’s resolution, I will say that I’ve made a casual promise to myself to attempt that feat for the first 31 days of 2017, but I am under no legal obligation to fulfill that promise;-) Want to join me?

Just click here to download. Then print, hole punch, and tuck them into your personal sized planner. Or, if you’re not the planner kind of peep, make yourself a little booklet and keep it by your bedside where you might remember to jot a few things down at the end of the day.

What do you say? Shall we play?
