10 Free Christmas Crafts to Make Now!

The countdown to Christmas is on! But, there’s still plenty of time to complete a few crafty ideas for your tree. Here a few ideas I fell in love with! Hope you like them, and happy Christmas crafting.

Crochet Snow Globe Ornaments

Snow Globe Ornament

Super simple Snow Globe Ornaments you can hook in 15 minutes or less! The magic is in the buttons you select to decorate your crocheted globe. A stroll down the button aisle and you’ll see the possibilities are endless. Look for the buttons that are removable with a little clip in the back and you won’t even have to sew those little suckers onto your crocheted globe! The pattern is right here.

Popsicle Stick Reindeer Ornaments

Popsicle Stick Reindeer Ornaments

What a fun idea! If you’re fresh out of popsicle sticks, you can always cut a triangular shape from some scrap cardboard for a similar effect. Wrap in green yarn and hang from the apex for an ornament that resembles a Christmas tree. A complete tutorial and supply list can be found right here.

Pinecone Christmas Tree’s

Pinecone Craft

These little pinecone Christmas Tree’s are so addicting to make you might end up with an entire forest of them! Add a string to turn them into ornaments, or craft according to the instructions and showcase these lovelies on a mantle. You may even have to open a bottle or two of wine, you know, for the corks;-) The instructions are here.

Rolled Scrapbook Paper Ornament

Scrapbook paper ornament

The scrapbook paper you use for this ornament doesn’t even have to be Christmas themed. All those bits and pieces you saved over the past year can be put to fantastic use when you create a few of these rolled paper Christmas trees. They also make a nice touch when attached to a gift bag, very festive. The supply list and complete instructions can be found here.

Origami Folded Fabric Ornaments

Along with a very detailed tutorial, there is a fantastic video that takes you step-by-step through the creation of this origami folded fabric ornament. Now, I don’t do much sewing so my selection of fabric is quite limited. But, it is so worth it to grab a few fat quarters in holiday-themed prints to make a few of these fun ornaments. Got some crafty friends that sew? Tell them you’ll bring the fabric and the wine and get them to collaborate. (i.e. do the sewing part;-) You can find the instructions and the video here.

Rustic Twig Ornaments

Rustic Ornaments

I really wish I’d come across this tutorial earlier in the year. Two new Chihuahua’s in the family absolutely love to bring me sticks almost every day. (Feathers, too). Had I known they’d come in handy to make such lovely ornaments, I might have held onto those Chihuahua treasures;-) These ornaments add just the right outdoorsy feel for a rustic, natural look for the holidays. Super simple to make, the instructions are right here.

Alternative Christmas Tree

Alternative Christmas Tree

Okay, so I can’t even tell you what language the instructions for this alternative Christmas tree is in, but I can say that Google translate does an excellent job of translating and you won’t have any issues following along. The finished result is just fantastic and will dress up any wall in your home. The instructions are here.

Button Garland

Button Garland for the Tree

This button garland was made with all white buttons and hemp string. The effect is reminiscent of the popcorn garland we all made growing up, and the completed project is just lovely. Now, I know some of you collect buttons or have a tin full of them that were passed down from your mother or grandmother. This is a lovely way to display your cherished collection. Instructions are here.
